Western countries will pit the states of the Middle East against each other in order to ensure stable oil supplies. This was announced by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the Tehran Dialogue forum on May 18.

"They (Western countries — Ed.) will force us to fight each other so that they can easily take our energy resources at any price they want <...> to give us weapons in return so that we can fight each other," the Iranian SNN news agency quoted him as saying.

According to him, the Persian Gulf is of strategic importance in the issue of energy supplies in the world.
