The MEP from Romania declared violations of the law at elections in the country

The results of the first round of presidential elections in Romania are contrary to the law, as the electoral process itself is inconsistent with the country's Constitution. This was stated on May 18 in an interview with Izvestia by Romanian MEP Diana Shoshoake, leader of the opposition S.O.S Romania party, who was banned from running for the highest position in the country.
"In Romania, these elections are not held according to the law. They contradict the Constitution, because from the first act, on October 5, 2024, when they banned me from participating in the presidential elections, and after that, on December 6, 2024, when they canceled the elections during the voting process, we had a coup d'etat. Two or three coups d'etat," the MP said.
The politician clarified that in the current repeat elections in 2025, the country's Constitutional Court banned her from running for president for the second time. As Shoshoake noted, only candidates who "belong to this system" were allowed to participate. According to the oppositionist, the Constitutional Court of Romania has taken power in the country into its own hands and can do whatever it wants, but its decisions cannot be appealed.
"You can't go with a lawyer and defend people's rights, because the Constitutional Court is not a court of justice. It is a political organization. <...> We are nothing now. We don't have a Constitution, we don't have a state, we don't have a legal order. We only have globalists who do what they want, and they play with Romanians," the politician concluded.
On May 18, the second round of the presidential elections began in Romania. Polling stations opened at 07:00 (coincides with Moscow time) and will close at 21:00. In the first round, the leader was the head of the Alliance for the Unification of Romanians, George Simion, with 42.28% of the vote. On the day of the second round, the politician stated that he was confident of a positive election result for him, and the alliance itself would focus on avoiding fraud.
