Roskachestvo told about deception schemes in cellular communication salons

Visiting a mobile phone salon can turn into unpleasant surprises. On May 18, experts from the Roskachestvo Center for Digital Expertise told RT about deception schemes and tricks of scammers.
According to experts, the most common fraud scheme is the hidden registration of SIM cards for the buyer.
"When consumers come to the salon, they may not notice that in addition to the selected tariff, there is another SIM card in the receipt, issued without their knowledge," the article says.
According to Sergey Kuzmenko, head of the Roskachestvo Center for Digital Expertise, deception in communication salons is a common practice faced by almost every Russian.
The expert recommended checking all the items in the issued receipt and not agreeing to unnecessary services.
In addition, consultants may impose additional services, especially for the elderly, under the guise of "consultations on SIM card activation" or "phone settings". These operations can significantly increase the purchase price, according to the publication.
"Unscrupulous employees may also add unnecessary items to the receipt when applying for a loan or installment plan. Checks are often hidden or folded, and if fraud is discovered, it becomes difficult to return the money," Roskachestvo noted.
Experts strongly advise checking receipts in communication salons for unnecessary goods and services, as well as asking questions, the department clarified.
Earlier today, family realtor Svetlana Ermolenko reported that the rental season is accompanied not only by an increase in demand, but also by the activation of fraudsters. According to her, the main signs of deception are suspiciously low price, perfect photos, lack of an exact address and the requirement of prepayment before viewing the object.
The realtor stressed that the lease agreement should be detailed and include all conditions, including utility bills and possible fines.
