A yellow weather hazard level has been declared in Moscow and the Moscow Region due to an impending thunderstorm and increased wind gusts, according to the website of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia on May 18.

"The warning period is until 21:00 Moscow time, wind gusts of up to 17 m/s are expected, thunderstorms in places," the commentary to the center's forecast map says.

The yellow danger level is the average in the scale of weather warnings, it indicates potentially dangerous weather conditions. The mayor's office of the capital warned that due to an emergency message from meteorologists, citizens should be more attentive on the streets. In case of strong gusts of wind, do not seek shelter under trees, or park cars near them.

In the weather forecast for Moscow on Sunday, May 18, the Hydrometeorological Center noted that it would be cloudy in the afternoon, light rain is expected, moderate in places. The air temperature ranges from +19 to +21 degrees. At night, the thermometer will drop to +10. In the Moscow region, it will be from +17 to +22 degrees during the day, and at night the temperature may drop to +7.

At the same time, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, assured on the same day that the meteorological summer would arrive in Moscow on time — by the end of May, the air temperature in the capital would rise to +28 degrees. He also recalled that, according to long-term observations, the climatic summer in Moscow usually begins on May 26.
