IFFHS recognizes Lev Yashin as the best goalkeeper in history

Lev Yashin, a former goalkeeper of the Dynamo Moscow football club and the USSR national team, topped the ranking of the best goalkeepers of all time according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). The corresponding publication was posted on the organization's website on May 18.

So, the Soviet goalkeeper beat Italian Gianluigi Buffon and German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the ranking, who are in second and third places, respectively.

In addition to them, the top ten goalkeepers included Spaniard Iker Casillas, England's Gordon Banks, Petr Cech from the Czech Republic, Italian Dino Zoff, German Sepp Mayer, Spanish goalkeeper Ricardo Zamora, as well as representative of Germany Oliver Kahn.

Yashin holds the titles of Olympic champion in 1956 and European champion in 1960. In addition, he is the bronze medalist of the 1966 FIFA World Cup and the best goalkeeper of the 20th century according to the International Football Federation (FIFA). As a member of Dynamo Moscow, the goalkeeper won the USSR championship five times and won the USSR Cup three times.

Acron Togliatti forward Artyom Dzyuba scored the 240th goal of his professional career on May 2 and set a new record for goals among Russian football players. He scored the winning goal in the 74th minute in the match of the 27th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL) against Dynamo Makhachkala.
