The Ministry of Defense showed footage of the liberation of Bogatyr settlement in the DPR

On May 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense published footage of the combat work of units of the Vostok group of forces during the liberation of the Bogatyr settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

According to the ministry, soldiers of the 29th Guards Combined Arms Army conducted active offensive operations, during which the settlement was liberated.

"Thanks to the coordinated work of the assault groups, artillery crews and operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), it was possible to destroy fortified positions, defensive structures and enemy firepower," the report says.

After suppressing the main pockets of resistance, the Russian military conducted a sweep and established full control over the village, destroying a significant number of enemy equipment and personnel. The Russian flag was raised over the administration building.

The Ministry of Defense clarified that Bogatyr was of great strategic importance. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have turned it into a fortified area with several lines of defense, strong points and logistical infrastructure. In total, there were more than 1,400 buildings and structures within the village.

Despite the shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, peaceful life is gradually returning to the city.

The liberation of the Bogatyr settlement in the DPR became known earlier that day. The Russian Defense Ministry also clarified that the Russian army also hit the manpower and equipment of the mechanized brigade in the areas of three settlements located in the Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk regions and in the DPR.
