In Argentina, more than 7 thousand people evacuated due to severe flooding

More than 7 thousand residents of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires were evacuated due to severe flooding. This was reported by La Nacion on May 17.

According to the newspaper, more than 400 mm of precipitation has fallen in the region since May 16.

For some areas of Buenos Aires province, the National Meteorological Service of the country has declared a red danger level.

More than 3 thousand people were accommodated in evacuation centers, and another 4.5 thousand evacuated on their own. Three people are missing.

The authorities sent special equipment and search and rescue teams to the disaster site. The Government of Buenos Aires Province has established a disaster management command.

On May 12, it was reported that more than 110 people died as a result of flooding in the province of South Kivu in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It was clarified that the flood occurred on the night of May 9 due to overflowing river waters. Initially, 61 people were reported dead as a result of the incident. At the moment, rescuers are continuing to search for bodies.
