Pope Leo XIV adopted the symbols of papal authority

Pope Leo XIV officially took office after receiving the "fisherman's ring" and the pallium (a woolen ribbon with embroidered crosses), which are symbols of papal authority. This ancient ritual marked the official beginning of the pontificate of the 267th Pope.
The pontiff arrived at the inauguration (enthronement) in a papamobile, passing through St. Peter's Square. The ceremony was attended by delegations from 156 countries, including the leaders of about 30 states.
