Patrushev announced the suppression of BF provocations by unfriendly countries

The Baltic Fleet of Russia is strengthening its position in a difficult military and political situation and suppressing provocations by the naval forces of unfriendly states. This was announced on May 18 by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Board, congratulating the personnel and veterans on the Baltic Fleet Day.

"The Baltic Fleet, founded by Peter the Great, is rightfully considered the cradle of the Russian Navy, and its entire history is an example of heroism, courage, bravery and devotion to the Fatherland," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Patrushev noted that the fleet reliably ensures the safety of navigation, hones its combat skills during exercises and long-range cruises, and also improves its skills in countering underwater sabotage forces.

According to him, the European wing of NATO continues its policy of blocking Russia in the Baltic region, neglecting the possibility of restoring dialogue between Moscow and Washington. However, the Russian Federation, as Patrushev emphasized, will not allow encroachments on national interests in this strategically important area.

The presidential aide also reported on the ongoing re-equipment of the BF. It receives new frigates, corvettes, small missile and mine warfare ships, hydrographic vessels and boats. The Fleet receives ships with the naval version of the Pantsir missile defense system and develops the basing infrastructure.

The Baltic Fleet celebrates its 322nd anniversary on May 18. The result of the battle was the capture of two Swedish sailing ships.
