Two people were killed when a sailing vessel of the Mexican Navy Cuauhtemoc collided with the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. This was reported on May 18 by the New York Post newspaper, citing emergency services.

"When the three huge masts hit the legendary span, slowly, one after the other, at least two crew members were standing on top of them. Some other crew members were seen hanging from the damaged masts," the article said.

Rescue services are working at the scene. The authorities are investigating the causes of the incident.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that at least 19 people were injured in the collision of the Mexican Navy sailing ship Cuauhtemoc with the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. The bridge was not seriously damaged, and traffic resumed in both directions after a preliminary check.
