About 500 homeless people occupied Madrid's main airport.

The number of homeless people living at the main airport of Spanish Madrid has increased to 500. This was reported on May 17 by the Daily Mail (DM) newspaper.
"The number of "unauthorized passengers," as the authorities call them, at the airport has increased from about 50 to almost 500 people," the publication says.
As a result, several areas of the building even had to be disinfected from bedbugs, the media notes.
"It looks like a disaster zone," the newspaper quotes one of the tourists who was impressed by what he saw at Madrid airport.
As indicated in the publication, among the "tenants" of the airfield are homeless people with mental disorders, problems with alcohol and illegal substances. They were located on all floors in different areas, including blocking the entrances to the toilets and occupying restaurant tables.
The article emphasized that homeless people can pose a threat to the safety of passengers and airport staff: knives and other weapons were found with them, and they were also caught stealing.
Earlier, on May 9, Europeans staged a protest in front of the government building in Madrid, Spain. People organized a street exhibition "Where are your taxes going". Its purpose was to draw the attention of citizens to where the government spends taxpayers' funds.
