The increase in the number of fraudulent call centers in Ukraine is a matter of concern. This was announced on May 15 by the Global Initiative to Combat Transnational Organized Crime (GITOC), a non-governmental organization (NGO) with headquarters in Geneva.

According to NGO experts, the growing trend in the number of fraudulent call centers is related to the attraction of Ukrainian youth to them due to promises of high wages.

According to the researchers, many employees of such organizations end up not being rewarded with the promised amounts. And in cases where the activity pays well, employees are deprived of the opportunity to leave, using intimidation and physical violence against them.

In addition, according to the study, there has been an increase in illegal trade in prohibited substances in Ukraine.

It is clarified that the report was prepared on the basis of three years of GITOC research.

On May 7, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia reported that there are currently 150 call centers operating in Ukraine that conduct fraudulent activities against Russians, while Kiev uses the information infrastructure of the European Union (EU) countries to operate them. It is noted that a significant part of the funds from telephone fraud is used to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and nationalist gangs.
