The UK will create an internal guard of thousands of volunteers to protect critical infrastructure from attacks by enemy states and terrorists. This was reported on Saturday, May 17, by The Times newspaper.

"In accordance with the plans put forward in the government's Strategic Defense Review (SDR), the Internal Guard will be established to protect British power plants and airports," the material says.

Volunteers will be sent to guard nuclear power plants, telecommunications facilities and Internet cables. It is specified that the formation will be modeled on the civilian militia of 1940.

On April 14, Estonian President Alar Karis approved amendments to the law allowing the military to use force against ships that could damage cables or other underwater infrastructure. It is specified that changes are being made to the law on the organization of the Armed Forces of Estonia, as well as to the legislation on the economic zone of the republic.
