Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on May 17 that a telephone conversation between American leader Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin was being prepared.

"The conversation is being prepared," he said in an interview with Interfax.

Earlier in the day, Trump announced his intention to hold a telephone conversation with Putin on Monday, May 19. Trump clarified that the topics of the conversation would be the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and trade issues.
