Maia Sandu voted in the Romanian presidential election

Moldovan President Maia Sandu has voted in the second round of the Romanian presidential election. This was announced on May 17 by her press secretary Igor Zakharov.
"Sandu ended her participation in the summit of the European Political Community of Albania with a natural gesture for any interested citizen: she voted at the Romanian Embassy in Tirana," he wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
It is specified that Sandu holds Moldovan and Romanian citizenship.
Earlier, on May 13, the leader of the opposition Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), former Prime Minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat said that Sandu and the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PDS) openly interfere in the presidential elections in Romania. The politician recalled that in November 2024, the PDU officially supported the chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Nicolae Ciuke in the elections in Romania.
