Erdogan announced the discovery of a large gas field in the Black Sea


A large gas field with reserves of 75 billion cubic meters has been discovered in the Black Sea. On May 17, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced this at a speech in Istanbul.
"A new gas field has been discovered in the Black Sea at the Gektepe-3 well. The volume is 75 billion cubic meters, the economic value is $30 billion," Erdogan said in a speech, a fragment of which was published on his page on the social network X (former. Twitter).
According to the Turkish leader, this volume of gas can be enough to supply resources to the entire territory of the country for 3.5 years.
The politician added that the value of the reserves is estimated at $30 billion.
Earlier, on March 5, Igbal Guliyev, deputy director of the MGIMO International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy, said that the domestic market was showing record gas consumption. According to him, this was one of the factors that ensured a significant increase in supplies via the Turkish Stream gas pipeline in January and February of this year.
