The Gaza Ministry of Health reported more than 150 deaths in Israeli strikes in a day.

As a result of Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, 153 people were killed and 459 more were injured. This was announced on May 17 by the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian exclave.

"Over the past 24 hours, the bodies of 153 dead (including seven previously recovered from the rubble) and 459 injured have been admitted to hospitals in the Gaza Strip," the ministry's press service said on its Telegram channel.

According to the agency, some of the victims are still under the rubble and on the roads. Ambulance and civil defense teams are unable to reach the impact sites.

The ministry added that the total number of deaths since October 7, 2023 has exceeded 53.2 thousand people, and the number of injured is 120.6 thousand people.

This morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced plans to expand its military operation in the Gaza Strip. It was clarified that the Israeli military continues to seek the release of hostages and the destruction of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas.

Before that, on May 16, Al Jazeera TV channel reported the deaths of more than 100 people in the Gaza Strip as a result of IDF strikes. Among other things, the Israeli army struck a civilian car in the exclave, killing four people, including three children.
