More than 20 people were killed in a militant attack in Nigeria


More than 20 farmers and fishermen were killed in a militant attack on the village of Malam Karanti in Borno State in northeastern Nigeria. This was reported on May 17 by the Daily Post, citing sources.
"The terrorists spared the elderly man, who later warned the community (about the incident. — Ed.). The terrorists gathered people in Malam Karanti and killed them. Most of the victims were bean farmers," the article says.
It is reported that the attack took place on the morning of Thursday, May 15. After that, according to the newspaper, the group launched another attack when villagers, with the help of security personnel, tried to take out the bodies of the dead.
The country's Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, assured residents of the state and the northeast that the military is making every effort to deal with the terrorists and dislodge them from their enclaves in order to end the crisis.
Earlier, on April 29, it was reported that at least 14 people were killed in a militant attack on participants of a memorial ceremony in Borno State in northeastern Nigeria. The terrorist organization Boko Haram is suspected of involvement in the incident. According to Vanguard, the attackers also set fire to a local church and 10 houses of civilians.
