The Russian fighter spent three days in the rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the assault on Alexandropol

On May 17, Dmitry Borodavka, a soldier of the 242nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 20th Division of the 8th Army in the Center group of forces, told how he spent three days in a trench just a few meters from the positions of the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during the assault on the settlement of Alexandropol of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

According to him, initially he was in a position with a colleague who was given out by a triggered walkie-talkie. Wart reported that the enemy had thrown grenades at their hideout, and his comrade had died. He was left alone.

Left without cover, the fighter continued to transmit the coordinates of targets for Russian drones, which allowed serious damage to the forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the soldier, he had to lie motionless under a camouflage poncho in order not to get into the field of view of enemy drones himself. He noted that for three days he tried not to move and even learned not to breathe for half an hour.

After the reinforcements arrived, the assault on Alexandropol began. Wart said that he and a colleague went to help the storming group. The fighter and his comrade tried to persuade the militants to surrender, but were refused.

"We go in, we break through, the blanket is hanging. <...> I see a machine gun resting against the blanket. <...> I'm in the crossfire, <...> I hide in a corner. <...> I abruptly reload the machine gun and went there. <...> The boys thought I was done (dead. — Ed.)," the military said.

On the same day, the Ministry of Defense announced that units of the Center group of forces had liberated the settlement of Alexandropol in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). It was also clarified that in the areas of five settlements of the DPR, formations of four mechanized assault brigades, a marine brigade and a brigade of the National Guard of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were defeated.
