The Kuibyshevsky District Court of St. Petersburg has arrested Arsen Movsesyan, accused of fraud during the construction of an administrative and production building for the Mariinsky Theater. This was reported on May 17 in the Telegram channel of the united press service of the city courts.
According to the investigation, in 2023, Movsesian, together with his accomplices, signed a contract with the Mariinsky Theater for the construction of an administrative and production building at 6a Bulavsky Street. Subsequently, forged documents were produced on the supply of materials and equipment, on the basis of which an advance payment of almost 96 million rubles was received through the Federal Treasury Department in St. Petersburg.
Movsesyan was charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale"). According to the court's decision, he was detained until July 14, 2025.
The initiation of a criminal case on fraud on an especially large scale during the construction of an administrative and production building for the Mariinsky Theater became known the day before. According to the Izvestia source, the institution transferred 95.9 million rubles to the companies, which the contractors disposed of at their discretion, which caused material damage to the theater.
