- Degtyarev discussed the development of sports infrastructure with the Governor of the Omsk region

Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and President of the Russian Olympic Committee, paid a working visit to the Omsk Region. During the trip, on May 16-17, he held a meeting with the governor of the region, Vitaly Khotsenko, during which they discussed the development of sports infrastructure, training, and support for youth sports.
"We discussed the development with Vitaliy Khotsenko. This includes construction, personnel training, and the development of youth sports, something that Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin always talks about - reducing the commercialization of youth sports. These are regional powers. We also discussed the support of coaches and talented athletes," the minister said.
Degtyarev noted that the Ministry of Sports will help to resume the work of the Blinov Palace sports complex. According to him, this facility is a landmark for the whole of Siberia, but it had to be closed due to its deplorable condition.
"And we will work together — the region, the Ministry of Sports, plus private investors — to find funds to put it in order. Major repairs are required. I am sure that the arena will be in demand not only by the Omsk Wings hockey club, but also by volleyball, basketball, handball, as well as as a venue for other mass events," concluded the head of the department.
An important part of the visit was Degtyarev's awarding of the Uralvagonzavod team, which held the first Spartakiad of its team's workers in Omsk, at one of its main enterprises. The Minister's work program began with congratulations to the teachers, staff and graduates of the Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sports (SibGUFC) on their 75th anniversary. He called the educational institution the pride of the national sports training system.
"Over 75 years, the university has trained more than 40,000 specialists, including Olympic champions and outstanding coaches: Alexander Karelin, Mikhail Mamiashvili, Alexey Tishchenko, Sergey Shelpakov and Vladimir Barnashov. The University not only preserves its glorious traditions, but also actively develops, implements modern methods, strengthens international relations, and educates a new generation of champions. I am confident that SibGUFC will continue to make a significant contribution to the development of Russian sports!" said the minister.
Degtyarev presented the Order of Honor to SibGUFC President Vladimir Mikhalev. A number of university staff were awarded the badge of honor "For services to the development of the Olympic movement in Russia", received commendations and certificates of honor from the Ministry of Sports.
On April 26, Russian Sports Minister Degtyarev paid a working visit to the Ulyanovsk region, where he took part in the opening of the traditional 81st track and field relay race on Cathedral Square. Degtyarev met with the governor of the region, Alexei Russian, they held a ceremony of awarding certificates for the title of "Master of Sports of Russia" and departmental awards, and also congratulated the best athletes and expressed gratitude to their mentors.
