The IDF announced plans to expand its operation in Gaza


The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is planning to expand its military operation in the Gaza Strip. The IDF press service announced this on Saturday, May 17.
"Over the past 24 hours, the Israel Defense Forces have begun conducting massive strikes and mobilizing troops to achieve operational control in the Gaza Strip in preparation for expanding operations and fulfilling the goals of the war," the statement said.
They added that the IDF continues to seek the release of hostages and the destruction of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas.
On the eve of May 16, Al Jazeera TV channel reported that more than 100 people were killed in the Gaza Strip as a result of strikes by the Israel Defense Forces. According to the TV channel, the Israeli military, among other things, hit a civilian car in the enclave. Four people were killed in the attack, including three children.
On May 13, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the country's army would enter the Gaza Strip in the coming days to completely defeat Hamas. According to him, the fighting will not stop until the goal is achieved.
