In the Libyan capital Tripoli, one person was killed due to the shelling of demonstrators by the forces of the Government of National Unity (GNA). This was announced on Saturday, May 17, according to the agency Libya Press.
"Employees of security departments in the regions and some military personnel used live ammunition against the protesters. As a result, one demonstrator was killed and several others were seriously injured," the agency said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
Fire was opened on the demonstrators in the square near the headquarters of the Prime Minister of the PNE Abdel Hamid Dbeiba. The protesters continue to demand his resignation.
Earlier, on May 15, protesters gathered outside the Libyan government building. They demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeiba amid clashes in the city.
