In Omsk, a local resident was convicted of rape 25 years ago

A court in Omsk has sentenced a 59-year-old man in a 25-year-old rape case. This was reported on May 16 in the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Omsk region.

"According to the investigation, on the evening of September 30, 2000, the defendant, who had previously been convicted twice for rape, met an unknown 17-year—old girl on Karpinsky Street in Omsk, forcibly took her to a deserted place, beat and raped her," the department's Telegram channel clarified.

After the crime, the person involved immediately left the Omsk region and was wanted for a long time, but in September 2024 he was detained and taken into custody.

It is specified that the defendant was sentenced to three years of imprisonment to be served in a special regime colony. 200 thousand rubles of moral damage were recovered in favor of the victim.
