Circus show "Pushkin's Dreams" will be presented in Luzhniki

The premiere of the circus show "Pushkin's Dreams" will take place on May 29 at the Druzhba Universal Sports Hall in Luzhniki. The story of the Russian writer Alexander Pushkin will be shown on stage.

The show featured the highlights from Pushkin's works, including the meeting between Ruslan and Chernomor. In this case, the stunts will be performed without insurance.

"I'm holding on with my teeth. Over time, I learned to fall, to cling. That's how it is today. You didn't notice," said Oleg Spigin, the actor of the show "Pushkin's Dreams."

It is noted that the main character of the production will be Pushkin. The atmosphere of magic will be conveyed with the help of special effects and a new approach to the numbers from the organizers, the New Russian Circus company.

"We have taken the traditional circus genres as a basis. They added some genres that had never worked in the circus, such as acrobatic rock and roll. It's a kind of sport. We tried to rethink the circus acts themselves. And we are experimenting with the form," said the head of the company, Elizabeth Hamburg.

In particular, two different circus genres will be combined: the air ring and the sira wheel to convey the love story of Pushkin and Natalia Goncharova. It is noted that a whole city of decorations was built for the show, which was assembled for 10 days.

"A little more than 2 thousand viewers will be able to see each show, usually this hall accommodates more, about three thousand. But for this difficult staging, a substantial part of the seats had to be sacrificed," said Ksenia Soldatova, a correspondent for Izvestia.

The screenwriters and production directors were the winners of the Golden Mask Award. More than 60 people who are participants of international festivals and champions of Russia and the world will perform on the stage.

It is noted that more than 200 original costumes were created for the artists, it took about six months. The audience is promised to open a new page in the history of the circus — a mixture of tricks, theater, and digital technologies. This show will run in Luzhniki for almost four months.

On April 21, it became known that the first world-class show in Russia in the format of the new circus "Pushkin's Dreams" will take place in Moscow. The show will be shown from May 29 to September 21, 2025.
