In Moscow, a 75-year-old pensioner agreed to receive animal feed through delivery, after which she lost 5.8 million rubles, which she gave to the attackers. This was announced on May 16 by a source of Izvestia.

On May 12, a woman answered a call from a "courier" who asked her to dictate a code from an SMS message in order to deliver pet food to her.

"After that, a man who identified himself as an employee of Roskomnadzor called her and said that a general power of attorney had been issued in her name, and her family was allegedly financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the source said.

The attacker convinced a Muscovite woman and her husband to collect money in foreign currency and hand it over to couriers who drove up in cars. The couple transferred another 4.8 million rubles to the account specified by the fraudster. The total amount of damage amounted to 5.8 million rubles.

On the same day, a court in Odintsovo sentenced a 22-year-old fraudster who attempted to steal more than 2 million rubles from pensioners. He was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted fraud committed by a group of persons on an especially large scale").
