Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz threatened the Houthis to eliminate their leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, if they continued to shell Israel. He announced this on May 16 in his account on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"If the Houthis continue to fire rockets at Israel, they will suffer painful blows, and the leaders of terror will suffer too, <...>. We will also hunt down and destroy Abdul Malik al-Houthi in Yemen," his post says.

Katz clarified that the Israel Defense Forces has currently attacked and severely damaged several ports in Yemen under the control of the Houthi terrorist organization.

He added that the airport in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, was also destroyed.

"We will defend ourselves independently from any enemy," Katz concluded.

On May 15, Al Masirah TV channel, citing the Yemeni movement, reported a new missile attack by Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement on Ben Gurion Airport in Israel. It was clarified that the Shiite movement announced the intensification and expansion of military operations in order to stop the aggression and lift the blockade from the Gaza Strip.
