The International Judo Federation (IJF) has allowed all athletes from Belarus to participate in international competitions under the national flag, with the coat of arms and the national anthem. This was announced on May 16 on the website of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the Republic.
"By the decision of the IJF executive Committee, Belarusian athletes have been allowed to participate in international tournaments under the national flag with the coat of arms and anthem of our country since June 1, 2025," the statement said.
The NOC added that the president of the international federation, Marius Wieser, said he was looking forward to welcoming Belarusian athletes again.
Russian and Belarusian athletes were banned from participating in competitions by the decision of the IJF Executive Committee in September 2022.
On May 13, the International Skating Union (ISU) approved applications for participation in the qualifying tournament for the 2026 Olympic Games for 22 Russian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track skaters. A similar decision was made regarding 13 athletes from Belarus.
