The demand for cargo transportation between Russia and Georgia has doubled


In May 2025, there was a noticeable increase in interest in international cargo transportation, according to Avito Services, which was reviewed by Izvestia on May 18.
The direction between Russia and Georgia has aroused the greatest interest among Russians over the past month — the demand for international cargo transportation services along this route increased 2.2 times in May 2025 compared to May last year.
Among the Russian regions, the most rapid growth in demand for international cargo transportation between Georgia and Russia was demonstrated by the Trans—Baikal Territory, where demand for the service increased fivefold compared to the same period last year. In Volgograd and Novosibirsk, the popularity of the service increased 3.5 times. In Voronezh, interest in international logistics has increased 2.7 times, and in Krasnodar — 2.5 times.
A steady increase in interest in international transportation is also observed in the direction of one of Russia's key trading partners, China. During the year, the demand for cargo transportation services between the two countries increased by 21%, which indicates the continued development of logistics and business ties.
A significant increase in demand for international cargo transportation to China was recorded in a number of regions of Russia. In Astrakhan and Kamchatka Krai, interest in such services increased 4.5 times, in the Republic of Karelia and Krasnoyarsk — four times, and in Kaliningrad — 3.5 times.
In the direction of Armenia, international cargo transportation services are most in demand in St. Petersburg (+55%), Novosibirsk (+50%) and Krasnodar (+23%). Separately, the offer from specialists in cargo transportation in the direction of Belarus has increased fourfold over the year.
"We assume that the increase in demand for international cargo transportation between Russia and neighboring countries may be due to increased business activity, the expansion of economic ties with countries such as Georgia, Armenia, Belarus and China, as well as the strengthening of the national currency, which potentially makes logistics services more accessible to businesses," the press service noted. They added that an additional factor may be the development of the e-commerce sector, contributing to the growing need for international logistics.
