The state traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections of drivers


On Fridays and weekends (May 16-18) The State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.
Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on roads in Moscow, the Ivanovo Region, the Kaluga Region, the Kirov Region, the Penza Region, the Ulyanovsk Region, the Smolensk Region and other regions of the country.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. "Continuous" checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are carried out on weekends by traffic police on an ongoing basis.
"Driving while intoxicated is unacceptable: This endangers the life and health of both the drunk driver and his passengers, as well as other road users. We strongly ask citizens who have witnessed a drunk driving a car or motorcycle, behaving inappropriately, creating dangerous situations on the road, to report this to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts.
Also on May 16, the State Traffic Inspectorate announced that in Moscow, due to sporting events, traffic would be restricted on the Garden Ring and a number of streets. Roads will be closed at various times from May 17th to 19th.
