The number of deaths in road accidents on the MKAD decreased by 36%

The number of deaths in road accidents on the MKAD in 2025 decreased by 36%. The Metropolitan Department of Transport announced this on May 16 in its Telegram channel.
According to Deptrans, in January-April of this year, nine people died in road accidents on the MKAD, while last year, during the same period, the number of victims reached 14.
Such results were achieved thanks to a number of measures, the department noted. These are the installation of cameras for photographing traffic violations, changing the organization of traffic in dangerous areas, the operation of a video analytics system with artificial intelligence to monitor the situation on the MKAD, and more.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation increased its forecast for collecting funds from traffic violators by eight times. In the current fiscal year, this figure may amount to 52.8 billion rubles instead of the initially projected 6.4 billion rubles.
Also on May 16, the State Traffic Inspectorate announced that in Moscow, due to sporting events, traffic would be restricted on the Garden Ring and a number of streets. Roads will be closed at various times from May 17th to 19th.
