- Orban called the actions of the special services of Ukraine against Hungary unacceptable.

The actions of Ukraine, which has instructed its special services to launch a secret operation against Hungary, a NATO member country, are absolutely unacceptable. This was announced on May 16 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"This is an unprecedented case when a state that is not a member of NATO, but allegedly aspires to good relations with this organization, carries out actions of its secret service against Hungary, which is a member of NATO," the fragment of the interview of the Prime Minister to Hungarian television on his Facebook page (belongs to Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
He stressed that Ukraine had organized a "well-coordinated, state-funded campaign of disinformation and defamation" against Hungary. Such actions are unacceptable, and NATO "should not put up with this either," Orban said.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on May 15 that anti-Hungarian propaganda was intensifying in Ukraine. Szijjarto stressed that Kiev, as well as Brussels and Warsaw, are intensifying a campaign aimed at discrediting Hungarian interests and preventing the Hungarian people from expressing their opinion on Ukraine's possible accession to the European Union (EU).
On May 13, Orban announced that the special services of Ukraine had launched an operation against Hungary, trying to disrupt a referendum among its residents on the country's accession to the EU. According to the politician, the purpose of Kiev's actions was to disrupt the vote.
The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, said on May 7 that the process of Ukraine's accession to the EU should be accelerated. She also believes that the EC is working hard on this issue. The first negotiations are planned to be held in 2025.
