A group of scammers who extorted real estate was arrested in Tver

Members of an organized group who were depriving local residents of real estate were arrested in Tver. This was announced on May 16 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk in her Telegram channel.

It is specified that the scammers convinced their victims to marry their close or distant relatives, in the process of matchmaking they persuaded them to sell them an apartment and all available real estate, promising to significantly improve living conditions for future family life. As a result, they deprived people of their only real estate and left them without funds. Later, the accomplices exerted psychological pressure on the victims so that they would not contact the police.

According to Volk, one of the victims of fraud was a pensioner who was deceived and issued a purchase and sale agreement for residential premises through a real estate agency.

"Having gained the confidence of an elderly woman, one of the accomplices said that she urgently needed money, allegedly for the treatment of a seriously ill child. But since no one gives her a loan, she asked the pensioner to borrow for her from a friend. Instead of a promissory note, an elderly woman was given a purchase and sale agreement to sign," a representative of the Interior Ministry wrote on the channel.

She added that during the searches, real estate documents, receipts and other items were seized from the defendants. Five defendants in the case were taken into custody.

Four criminal cases have been initiated under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").

On May 16, the press service of the Moscow Region Prosecutor's office announced the detention by a court in Odintsovo of a 22-year-old fraudster who attempted to steal more than 2 million rubles from pensioners. It is specified that the court sentenced Solopov to one year and six months in prison to serve his sentence in a correctional colony of general regime.
