The State Duma responded to Trump's words about the timing of peace

State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa reacted to the words of US President Donald Trump that the world will become safer within two to three weeks.
In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Friday, May 16, the parliamentarian noted that key decisions on peace in Ukraine could be made during a meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
"When the president says that the world will become closer, he probably means a meeting with his Russian counterpart, at which further steps on international security can be outlined," Chepa admitted.
In his opinion, American politicians do not have high and specific expectations from the talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. Chepa stressed that Russia remains open to peace and the search for a path that can lead to it.
"It can be assumed that the main decisions on peace will be made at a meeting of the presidents of the two largest nuclear powers," Chepa said.
