- DM announced the creation by the US authorities of a reality show about the struggle of migrants for citizenship

The US Department of Homeland Security intends to launch a reality show featuring immigrants who will compete for the chance to obtain American citizenship. This was reported on May 16 by the British newspaper Daily Mail.
According to the publication, the project has received preliminary approval from the head of the department, Christy Noem.
"Secretary of Homeland Security Kristy Noam supports the creation of a real reality show in which immigrants will compete with each other for the honor of quickly paving their way to U.S. citizenship," the publication quotes an excerpt from the description of the project.
The author of the idea was producer and screenwriter Rob Worsoff, who previously worked on several TV shows.
"I am not associated with any political ideology. As an immigrant, I'm just trying to make a show that celebrates the immigration process, celebrates what it means to be an American, and leads a national conversation about what it means to be an American, through the eyes of the people who want it most," he said in the project description.
According to the Daily Mail, the tasks for the participants of the show include descending into a mine in San Francisco, assembling and launching a rocket at the NASA center in Florida, holding on a log during a competition in Wisconsin, rafting on the Arkansas River and delivering mail on horseback. The finalist of the project will have to take the oath of office on the steps of the Capitol in Washington live.
The winner will be able to become a U.S. citizen and receive "American-style generous" prizes ranging from a million miles of air travel to a lifetime supply of gasoline. The remaining participants will also undergo a preliminary check for possible simplified citizenship.
However, not everyone in the ministry shares the enthusiasm for the project.
"Some employees are concerned that the plight of immigrants is turning into an element of the show," the newspaper notes.
The agency has been looking for a streaming partner for several weeks, and the Netflix platform is among the options. Despite the failure of previous similar attempts, the project team expects success.
Earlier in the day, The Hill newspaper reported, citing a source, that the Department of Homeland Security had requested 20,000 United States National Guard soldiers to help deport illegal migrants. It is noted that the National guardsmen can participate in raids and arrests or ensure safety during transportation.
Since coming to power on January 20, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly advocated stricter immigration policy. He stated that he intended to ensure the largest operation in American history to deport illegal migrants.
