Finnish energy companies have proposed the idea of building wind turbines with radars along the border with Russia, which will make it possible to monitor border areas. This was announced on May 16 by the Yle broadcaster.

"If the ideas of the preliminary action plan drawn up by the energy sector are implemented, a line of thousands of wind turbines will be built near the eastern border," the material says.

It is reported that the proposal was developed as part of a project called Resil East, which includes the construction of wind turbines with radars along the border with the Russian Federation. At the same time, as Yle emphasizes, the program is not yet funded.

In addition, the project planning period will be from one to three years.

On May 15, Yle announced that Finland is planning to build a new site for testing frontier security technologies. It was specified that the project will be implemented in the city of Joensuu, which is located 70 km from the Russian border. Operation of the laboratory will begin in 2026.
