The Minister of Defense of Belarus announced the strengthening of defense together with Russia

Belarus and Russia have identified steps to strengthen their defense capabilities in the event of aggression. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, during talks with the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Andrei Belousov.

"We have agreed on further steps to maintain and strengthen the defense potential necessary to prevent threats to military security and repel aggression if it is unleashed," the Belarusian Defense Ministry quoted Khrenin as saying on the Telegram channel.

In addition, he noted that the countries will take the necessary measures to respond if there are any encroachments on Belarus and Russia.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced Belousov's talks with the military and political leadership of Belarus. It was reported that the head of the republic's department personally met his Russian counterpart upon arrival.

In addition, on May 16, during a meeting with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the Russian Defense Minister stressed that the countries should begin strengthening the common defense space. The Belarusian leader also expressed gratitude to Russia for the supply of equipment, including military aircraft and helicopters.
