Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Friday, May 16, that Ankara welcomes the start of the first talks in three years between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine, taking place in Istanbul.

"The Russian-Ukrainian talks open a window of opportunity for a settlement," Fidan said in his opening speech at the talks.
