- A fraudster who tried to steal more than 2 million rubles was convicted in the Moscow region.

A court in Odintsovo convicted a 22-year-old fraudster who attempted to steal more than 2 million rubles from pensioners. This was announced on May 16 by the press service of the Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office.
"Odintsovo City Court has issued a guilty verdict against 22-year-old Andrei Solopov. He was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted fraud committed by a group of persons on an especially large scale)," follows from the publication in the Telegram channel.
Law enforcement officers established that in October 2024, Solopov and his accomplices called a married couple of pensioners and introduced themselves as employees of the FSB, Rosfinmonitoring, Roskomnadzor, and the electric grid. The attackers persuaded elderly people to withdraw funds from their accounts in order to transfer them to a courier for safekeeping.
According to the press service of the department, the pensioners filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies. In addition, they handed over copies of banknotes in the amount of more than 2.3 million rubles to Solopov. Police officers managed to detain the attacker at the crime scene.
It is specified that the court sentenced Solopov to one year and six months in prison to serve his sentence in a correctional colony of general regime.
Earlier, on April 30, a pensioner from Omsk transferred more than 28 million rubles to fraudsters. During the month, the pensioner sent money to the attackers. However, it was only the need to apply for a loan that aroused her suspicions and forced her to contact the police.
