SHOT has released the criminal video podcast SHOT CRIME, which takes listeners back to the era of high-profile crimes in post-Soviet Russia. The project tells about exclusive stories and facts that have never been published before. The first episode is dedicated to the criminal history of the Moscow region — the case of the Korchagins organized crime group, which operated in Chekhov in the 90s.

The podcast was hosted by journalists with many years of investigative experience.:
Anton Starkov is a documentary filmmaker and screenwriter.;
Nastya Lugovskaya is a criminal journalist for SHOT, known for her work with exclusive materials.

The invited guest of the issue is Igor Bushmanov, a lawyer and former investigator in the Korchagin case. In the conversation, he shared details that had never been published in the media before.

"In those years, murders became commonplace and occurred almost daily. In Chekhov alone, up to 100 murders per year were recorded. Statements from relatives about missing people were practically not accepted, and the bodies, or, as they were also called, "snowdrops", were found by chance — in the spring, when the snow began to melt," says Igor Bushmanov in the podcast.

The Korchagin brothers, Dmitry and Victor, had a special way of doing business. No one was able to bring them to justice, because the men left no clues, as well as the opportunity to bring charges against them. However, in the mid-90s, both brothers and several of their accomplices were abducted — and the details of this abduction have not yet been disclosed. The guest of the issue talks about this in detail.

"In the SHOT CRIME project, we don't just talk about crimes, we recall the criminal culture of the 90s, transferring our viewers for a few minutes into the world of dashing gang fights. We show how the authorities looked like, how the system of punishments worked inside the criminal world. Our podcast gives you the opportunity to feel the spirit of that cruel time," explained Denis Arapov, CEO of the joint editorial staff of LIFE and SHOT.

An important goal of SHOT CRIME is to show how the country has changed over the decades. To tell not only about the fall of criminal empires, but also about the work of investigators, about the circumstances in which people found themselves, and about what still remains a mystery to the investigation.
