In St. Petersburg, a nine-year-old boy fell through a loose hatch that was located on school grounds. On May 16, the Main Investigation Department (GSU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) in St. Petersburg was informed about this.

"The investigation department <...> received a report that on May 15, a student fell through an unfastened hatch located on the territory of the educational institution. The boy was hospitalized with his injuries, and he is receiving the necessary assistance," the department's Telegram channel says.

The incident is being investigated in accordance with Article 238 of the Criminal Code ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements"), Article 293 of the Criminal Code ("Negligence"). At the moment, investigators are also establishing the circumstances of the incident. After the check, law enforcement agencies will make an appropriate procedural decision.

On May 14, the Ministry of Health of Chuvashia reported that nine gymnasium students in the republic sought medical help with symptoms of intestinal infection. Eight students are receiving outpatient treatment under the supervision of district pediatricians. Upon the incident, the head of the republic, Oleg Nikolaev, ordered an inspection. Subsequently, investigators opened a criminal case after the mass incidents.
