In the DPR, a court sentenced an APU mercenary from Colombia to 14 years in absentia.

In the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), a court sentenced in absentia a mercenary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from Colombia to 14 years in prison. This was announced on May 16 by the press service of the DPR Prosecutor's office.

"The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic has pronounced a verdict in absentia in a criminal case against 41-year-old citizen of the Republic of Colombia, Hector Joel Urbano Perdomo. He was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict")," the message says.

It is specified that the person involved arrived on the territory of Ukraine and underwent military training to participate in the conflict. In the period from August 2023 to February 2024, the mercenary took part in combat operations against Russian army personnel. For his actions, he received a reward of more than 800 thousand rubles.

The ministry noted that the court sentenced Perdomo in absentia to 14 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.

On May 13, a court in the DPR sentenced Georgian citizen Michal Demetrashvili in absentia to 14 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony for participating as a mercenary on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was clarified that the mercenary received a reward of 5.7 million rubles for the work performed.
