Alexander Ovechkin, a Russian forward for the Washington Capitals hockey team, shared his thoughts on the reasons for the defeat in the second round of the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs against the Carolina Hurricanes on May 16.

"Yes, it's hard, of course. We have a special team, and, of course, we had our chances," the NHL press service quoted him as saying.

Ovechkin also noted that perhaps the Washington Capitals lost to the Carolina Hurricanes because luck favored their opponents more. Nevertheless, he stressed that his team had demonstrated a decent game.

On the same day, it was reported that HC Carolina Hurricanes beat the Washington Capitals in the fifth match of the second round of the NHL playoffs. The meeting ended with a score 3:1 (1:1, 0:0, 2:0). Also, following the results of the match, the Washington Capitals completed their Stanley Cup performance.
