The Ukrainian Air Force reported a loss of communication with an American F-16 fighter jet due to an emergency situation. On May 16, the agency announced this on the social network Facebook (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

"On May 16, 2025, at about 03:30, communication with the F-16 aircraft was lost," the publication says.

It is noted that the pilot successfully ejected, after which he was found and evacuated. At the moment, his condition is assessed as satisfactory.

The ministry clarified that a commission has been appointed to investigate the incident, which has already begun work.

The American magazine The War Zone reported on May 1 that the United States began supplying Ukraine with decommissioned F-16 fighter jets as sources of spare parts. It was noted that the fighters had been decommissioned and declared unfit for flight.

On April 20, the Ukrainian military noted the low quality of American F-16 fighter jets supplied to the country. According to representatives of the country's Air Force, the aircraft do not have the necessary components.
