Washington lost to Carolina and was eliminated from the Stanley Cup 2025

The Carolina Hurricanes hockey Club defeated the Washington Capitals in the fifth match of the second round of the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs. The meeting took place in the USA on May 16 and ended with a score 3:1 (1:1, 0:0, 2:0).

Russian strikers Andrei Svechnikov, Jordan Staal and Seth Jarvis scored goals for the winners. Anthony Beauvillier scored for Russian striker Alexander Ovechkin's team.

Also, following the results of the match, the Washington Capitals completed their Stanley Cup performance. The score in the series to four wins was 4-1 in favor of Carolina.
