The calculation of the Kornet anti-tank missile systems (ATGMS) of the Southern Group of Forces destroyed two US-made MaxxPro and Bradley armored combat vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Alexandrovsko-Kalinovsky area of the special military operation (SVO). This was announced on May 16 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

It is specified that the Ukrainian militants tried to rotate their personnel on the front line using American equipment. However, aerial reconnaissance revealed the enemy's intentions and transmitted the coordinates to the ATGM mobile group.

According to the military departments, for maneuverability, the calculation uses an all-terrain vehicle with an ATGM launcher on the roof. This provides the Russian military with the opportunity to quickly change positions in order to avoid retaliatory fire.

"They piled up the frame, attached a net — this is to protect the main heart of the car, so that you can get to the position, bring ammunition, food, and the same thing when people need to rest and to pick them up from the same position and bring them a shift. <...> Even if it arrives, the rubber will delay the fragments, people will be more or less safe," said the ATGM crew member with the call sign Grom.

The weapon was created taking into account the wishes of the fighters performing tasks in their area.

Earlier, on May 6, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that crews of the Kornet anti-tank missile systems of the Guards Airborne Assault Don Cossack Regiment from Feodosia of the Novorossiysk Guards Mountain Airborne Unit destroyed units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with guided missiles that were rotating in their combat zone.
