Belgorod man sentenced to 16 years in prison for treason

Belgorodian Yuri Yaroshenko was sentenced to 16 years in prison for high treason and preparing a terrorist attack against members of the Armed Forces of Russia. This was reported on May 15 in the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"Yaroshenko, on his own initiative, transmitted information about the locations of air defense systems (air defense. - Ed.) of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the routes of movement of military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation," the publication says.

A 48-year-old man was found guilty of crimes under Article 275 of the Criminal Code ("High treason"), Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code ("Attempted participation in the activities of a terrorist organization"), Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation for the commission of sabotage using toxic substances"), Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation for a terrorist act"), Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, storage, transportation and carrying of explosive devices").

It is specified that a resident of the Belgorod region also planned to poison food that would be sent to participants in a special military operation (SVO).

Yaroshenko was sentenced to 16 years in prison, three of which he will spend in prison, and a fine of 100,000 rubles.

Earlier, on May 6, it was reported that a local resident was detained in Crimea for calling for the destruction of the Crimean Bridge. It is specified that the 52-year-old resident was a participant in the Ukrainian chats of the Telegram messenger, in one of them he called for the destruction of the facility.

On the same day, employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in Primorsky Krai stopped the activities of a local resident involved in committing treason in the form of providing assistance to a representative of Ukraine directed against the security of the Russian Federation. A criminal case has been opened against Primorets under Article 275 ("High treason") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
