Colonel-General Mordvichev appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces

Colonel-General Andrey Mordvichev has been appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces. This was announced on May 15 by a source of Izvestia.

Mordvichev was born in 1976 in Pavlodar (Kazakhstan). In 1997, he graduated from the Novosibirsk Higher Combined Arms Command School, in 2006 from the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and in 2016 from the Military Academy of the General Staff.

In 2022, Mordvichev was appointed deputy commander of the Southern Military District. Under his leadership, Russian troops liberated Mariupol. In 2023, he led the troops of the Central Military District and the Center group. During the offensive in the Donetsk direction, Avdiivka, Ocheretino, Selidovo, Ukrainsk and Kurakhovo were liberated under his command.

Andrey Mordvichev was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for his personal contribution to the fulfillment of tasks in the special military operation zone.
