The United States has imposed sanctions against a number of senior officials and financial intermediaries of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah. This was announced on May 15 by the US State Department on its website.

According to the agency, individuals located in Lebanon and Iran "cooperate with the leadership of Hezbollah to manage significant financial transfers from international donors, which are key to the organization's budget."

It is noted that this measure supports the policy of US President Donald Trump to maximize pressure on Iran and allegedly related organizations, including the Lebanese movement.

In addition, the United States plans to continue supporting Lebanon by identifying and blocking Hezbollah's financing schemes. It will be clarified that the United States will use all available tools until the Shiite movement ceases to threaten the people of Lebanon and the entire region.

Earlier, on March 28, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the Ministry of Finance (OFAC) The United States has imposed sanctions on five individuals and three organizations it considers linked to Hezbollah. OFAC believes that the listed individuals and organizations are involved in the Lebanese sanctions evasion network, which supports the financial team of the Shiite movement.
