Bronze statue of Melania Trump stolen in Slovenia

Unknown persons stole a bronze statue of Melania, the wife of US President Donald Trump, in the town of Sevnica in Slovenia. This was reported on May 15 by the France 24 TV channel with reference to the AFP news agency.

"The theft was reported on May 13, and police officers immediately went to the crime scene and launched an investigation," the publication says.

It is specified that the attackers cut off the statue in the ankle area in order to take away the life-size bronze monument.

The statue of the first lady of the United States was erected in a field on the outskirts of Sevnica, where she was born, in 2020. The sculpture was created by American conceptual artist Brad Downey. It was the second statue of Melania Trump in the city.

In 2020, it became known that a wooden sculpture of Melania, which was located near Sevnica, was set on fire in Slovenia. The statue was carved using a chainsaw from the trunk of a lime tree by local sculptor Alyosha Zhupevets. After the incident, the mutilated object was removed from the place where it was located.
